Most old NTSC analog to digital converted video suck, but you fill the gaps among the noise and blur and chroma aberrations 🐶

You also don't mention the movement artifacts due to blocking "correction", invisible in video stills. For me its the worst part I haven't seen corrected yet.

As any other content if you don't like it don't download it, but Its true that, having the "original" video can lead to better reconstructions in the future, because most reconstruction levels can be achieved in real time (with a player) at this moment.

Current good AI reconstruction can lead to better overall experience in a lower size file, which is good.

The result we're seeing in this particular case is not a matter of trying to reach an unreasonable output resolution, it's just... Whatever did it thought uspscaling an old video consists in opening it on Topaz and clicking Export.

Each video has specific flaws and there are lots and lots of parameters that one can tweak in order to get the best result out of the tool. What I'm seeing here can't even be called AI upscaling, it honestly looks like he just run it into premiere and just sharpened the edges until it looked like a Pixar animation.

Heck, they didn't even bother trying to color correct it, it's completely washed out and otherworldly.
