If this port is not forwarded, you may experience all kinds of problems trying to get any upload traffic.

But it means that they may not be read correctly by other clients. I switched to qBittorrent and it's been working without any issues for me on an M1 Mac running OS 12.5.

Our second recommendation is flox. Both work with MacOS
