<![CDATA[Good news for pet burials in state of New York]]>The state of New York has changed the law regarding pet burials.

Under the previous law, if you wanted to be buried with your pet, you had to be buried in a pet cemetery.

Under the new law, you can bury your pet(s) in human cemeteries.

Of course, it's up to the cemetery to decide if they will allow mixed burials, which is the same as under the old law.

When I die, I want my kids to just weigh down the carcass and drop me in the middle of the Gulf of Mexico! That way, every trip to the beach is a visit to my grave! LOL

Oh, and the fish will get a smorgasbord that will last for days, if not weeks! 🙂

Nice to know that in NYS, we have gotten beyond the misguided stigmas that would disallow a pet's small box of ashes from being placed with its human companion.

I'm amazed that our (American) thoughts on burial once were -- and in some states, are -- so retrograde, that laws would rather have a human buried in a pet cemetery to be together.

Laws on keeping the "burial status quo" are, of course, defended by a big-bucks funeral home lobbying industry. "Regular human burial" is outrageous in price, and if people knew what was done to preserve the body and prepare it for open casket -- well, it's rather nasty.

Cremation is actually not the best solution if you're interested in your last decision being environmentally friendly. Recently, advocates of alternative options are making progress:

My oldest brother managed to illegally gain control of my father's corpse, illegally ship it to another county, and illegally had him cremated. His plan was to make it possible for him to sell my father's unused crypt. He failed at doing that, and I still own the crypt.
Anyway, I noticed in the mausoleum that quite a few pets are buried there. I'm a nice guy.. I should tell my brother that he can have that crypt.. for his OWN corpse.. as long as he dies within the next 5 years.
