One may find AVIDEMUX at avidemux.sourceforge.net

It's free and cross-platform.

It's what I've used in the film industry while doing editing for many years now, with absolutely NO regrets.

Check your export settings as your first port of call.

hXXp://avidemux.berlios.de/

Avidemux is cross-platform (Windows, Mac, Linux), FREE, open source, and powerful. It is not particularly user-friendly (IMHO). But, if you are willing to invest a little time learning the interface, it can give you good results.

And it is completely FREE and legal!
