The study participants then provided rectal tissue samples to researchers who exposed the samples to HIV in the laboratory.

The researchers found that the gel significantly reduced infection even though it was originally developed for vaginal use. They’ll formulate a rectal version and start testing it in January.

Medical writer Enrique Rivero notes that “anal-receptive intercourse is known to be the main route for new HIV infections in men who have sex with men.”

So… once the anal gel is on the market, will it provide an excuse for some to start barebacking again? Or would it simply be a way for determined barebackers to cut down on the possibility of infection?

Yes… Some may call me strange for where my mind is at... More particularly that I believe in the right to freedom of choice. This includes the freedom to choose what level of risk (if any) that you are willing to take. That being said though, if the risk a partner wishes to take is to engage in unprotected sex with a known HIV+ partner, I am very well known for making damn sure that they FULLY understand ALL of the consequences before making such a choice, as that goes to their right to make an educated and informed choice.

I didn't consider it from this standpoint, sounds like it could be a thing. I reckon if I were in a relationship and would bareback, I wouldn't use a cream like this, if I'd have any doubts about my partner then the relationship would be over. But like with your situation it sounds perfect. Are you a top or a bottom? I imagine it wouldn't help a whole lot if he was the one topping you.
