The tracker uses more resources with 20 tiny files than it does with a single larger file.

Let me clarify this.

We prefer a larger torrent with several small videos than several small torrents with small videos.

raphjd

Reply to People creating torrets merging multiple files into a single huge video on Mon, 21 Sep 2020 05:04:15 GMT

@<bdi>guandanarah</bdi>:

force people to download the whole torrent instead of sharing the individual files so anyone can download what they want.

Just a friendly (no offense) reminder: we can still only download those individual videos we want, instead of the whole torrent, even though it's a huge pack. partial seeder is allowed on GTRU.

For tiny short videos (normally within 100M), especially amateur videos that most likely don't even have a unified name, it's good practice to package them into a torrent to release. But for professional company-made videos (usually at least 150M), I really don't like pack too. eg.
https://www.gaytor.rent/details.php?id=0d1288bb484f17c61f0ca7b68cb255c2425fd42808dd3ec3
https://www.gaytor.rent/details.php?id=d568747808aa274f1f0ca7b68cb255c2383a3af5c156d922
https://www.gaytor.rent/details.php?id=00f80896f571e2871f0ca7b68cb255c23eba1d327895c183
https://www.gaytor.rent/details.php?id=19d71aba12d01a091f0ca7b68cb255c2ce1af1f034ac9edb

There're at least 2 shortcomings to packing several big professional videos into one giant torrent.

1. Each video in it lacks sufficient description and screenshots that we can't get an idea of content of video by just a file name before downloading it. Of course some may say you can Google it to find out. well…that's indeed a workaround, but not solution, otherwise GTRU admin could remove description and screenshot of all torrents, and tell us we could Google it.

2. Individual videos contained therein are not searchable. e.g. you heard about "BareTwinks - Luke Allen Fucks Daniel Ross" video is hot, so typed "Luke Allen Daniel Ross" into the GTRU search box and searched with Torrent Name and Filename checked, but got nothing result. then you further checked Torrent Description and searched again, 8 results came up, but you double checked each result and still no luck. So now you might think this video is not available on this tracker. However in fact, this video is hidden inside this big pack torrent:
https://www.gaytor.rent/details.php?id=ff855dbd0a4dee951f0ca7b68cb255c236f790e5c45c5d7f
This's almost the biggest downside of big pack torrent (though if we had to choose between pack and absence, pack is still thankful ofc).

This shouldn't be allowed! It's a loophole to increase the uploader's upload ratio.

IMHO it depends on how long the original videos they downloaded were. If the original videos were only, say for example, 5 minutes long, then I don't see why they shouldn't be joined into a single video (let's say 90 to 120 minutes?).

On the other hand, for non-porn, etc., tv episodes or original film shorts (like some in those short film collections on DVD) where the original short is only 15 minutes or so, and each short is unrelated to the next one, then those should be left as is. Some people upload the original individual short films anyway, so I see no point to joining together al the shorts in a collection (like the Boys On Film series, etc.).

What irks me are when I see someone who has done a rip of a DVD, for example, and a 2 hour movie has been split into separate video segments…apparently according to the individual VOB files on a DVD. That's just bad ripping.
That should be forbidden here...if a movie (I can't think of any specific examples at the moment) hasn't been ripped as one single video, then it shouldn't be uploaded. Period. No matter what some may think of that (and I've seen some people comment here about "At least they uploaded it", etc.).
Things like that should not be broken up...they should be kept in their original whole, entire form...not segmented.
Except for the examples you gave...the one thing I disagree with are photos (non-video images) which have been turned into a video slideshow...IMHO that's pointless. Just upload the original JPG (or whatever format) as they originally were...not joined into a video slideshow.

Admins, what do you think?

Thanks for reading.

I'm just another user not an admin but the entire file for the first one you linked to is under 600 MB.

I personally would find a bunch of tiny short videos more annoying and think that the uploader probably does, too. I doubt there was any thought of gaining more upload credit that way. It took quite a bit of time and effort to combine multiple short clips into a longer video. Upload credit is not that hard to come by here, especially for advanced users who make compilation videos.

However, if you are watching them on a tiny screen on a phone, you might prefer multiple small files.

So to summarize, you should be thanking the uploader, not complaining about the free content he provided. If you don't like that torrent, find another one you prefer.
