the upgrade was successful, but two (2) things make me think something is not quite right.

1. It still shows up as 3.5.5 under the avatar and other info which I didn't worry about, I just thought
something was blocking the info or it was a quirk like the "lurker –> newbie" issue, but

2. When I tried to add a new plugin/addon Firefox recommended (Amazing Screenshot) a few days later,
I got a message saying it only works with Firefox 4.0.

I reinstalled it thinking maybe I forgot to hit some "finish" button or something; I checked the Help/About, and
again it said 4.0, but no luck with the addon; it insists I don't have it.

Any suggestions?
TIA for your sage advice.

It upgraded and works like a charm

The only big lag i've encountered so far is that the visual styles from 3.5 are no longer supported.

My bank and both credit cards websites actively reject FF4 when trying to go there. This means I have to use Chrome or down grade FF to v3.6xxx.

I don't use many extensions, except Ad Block Pro and a couple of others that already work with FF4, so that's not an issue for me.

For example, it doesn not support extensions like "Skip Screen" and various others, and the example you made in your post happened to me in an italian forum, too.

The only thing I can tell you is to wait and maybe this little bugs are gonna be solved in short days. Or, at least I hope so :blownose:
