He looked at me with one of those "I know we're you're coming from" expressions, but I could see the cogs churning as recalled it. He said "It was my first movie, and I was so nervous". I told him there was no evidence of that on screen. He was very taken by my praise of him and the movie. It's a wonderful piece of work. I wonder if it would have gained more attention and be better known today had Branagh agreed to take his stage role into the movie.

Maurice (1987) is similar in some aspects.
