Does anyone know any reason why a particular VPN won't be able to connect to our tracker on our side?  Anything that we would prevent?

I can't figure out why the VPN I use stops all connections to and from my torrents as soon as I turn it on.

Ignore this… I've managed to resolve it (was a setting on another page in the connection preferences that was incorrect!).
