This is the sequel to the novel "I Am Number Four". The book, as always, has a much richer storyline than shown in the movies. I liked the movie, but the book was way better.

! In a world where a werecat virus has changed society, Roan McKichan, a born infected and ex-cop, works as a private detective trying to solve crimes involving other infecteds.
! But when your heart is gone, it’s easy to fall into a black hole and never crawl out. Roan has been lost and alone for more than a year, and his best friends think a new case might be just the motivation he needs. Roan forces himself back into the game and discovers a dead man who might not be all that dead, a street hustler that wants to hustle him, and a dominatrix who is well prepared to take Roan’s orders. As Roan claws his way out of the darkness by diving back into his work, he finds himself in a race against time in the adrenaline-pumping realization that nothing helps a person want to live like helping someone else survive.

Read both books before. I did like them better. But still they are all very well written and a must read. Characters and world building is amazing. Warning, no sex in any books, but it is about a gay private investigator and his lover-assistant

! who dies and third book is the recovery and finding a rebound guy, that's one of the reasons I didn't like it as much as the first ones

Author creates deep characters with flaws which is not as common as it should be in books. And shifter world is completely different, more sci-fi, medical (it's a virus which kills and there is no fun being infected with it as in other shifter books).

It is somewhat similar to the regular coming-of-age books and is the reason why these books are normally found in the young adult section. I like the way it weaves a complex story while at the same time maintaining readability. Some books that get a bit complex normally stress me out, but this series doesn't. It also has a way of exposition that will slowly orient the reader to the culture in the world of the Old Kingdom.

Like "Brokeback mountain" except it is longer and quite well written.
According to one review:
It is a Gothic novel in which a metaphyical dimension to the spiritual horror develops out of the
novel's uncanny correspondence with "The Idiot". Radcliffe easily brings to mind
Dostoyevsky; it has the the elements – the drama of a split psyche; larger-than-life
characters; sadism, masochism, rape; incest, murder, and madness; a focus on isolated
suffering through dreams and hallucinations......
Very dark and with a very tragic ending.

Trusted Bond - Mary Calms
Sequel to Change of Heart

Jin Rayne is having trouble adjusting to the new life he’s supposed to love. Instead of adapting to being the mate of tribe leader Logan Church, Jin can't get past the fact that his lover was straight before they met. He's discovered the joy in belonging to Logan but fears his new life could disappear at a moment’s notice, despite Logan's insistence that they are forever, end of story.

Jin wants to trust Logan, but that desire will be put to the test both by a rival tribe leader and by a startling revelation about Jin's existence. At stake is Jin's life and his place in the tribe. If he's going to survive to see Logan again, he'll have to release his fear and freely accept the bond, for only then can he truly trust.

I loved it!!! Not sure if its the devotion or the action or the sex, but the book kept me interested. The characters are so put together that you feel what they feel. A Great Read!!
