<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><rss xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/" xmlns:content="http://purl.org/rss/1.0/modules/content/" xmlns:atom="http://www.w3.org/2005/Atom" version="2.0"><channel><title><![CDATA[US - FCC tells telecoms to end spam&#x2F;robocalls by Oct 2019 - or else]]></title><description><![CDATA[<p dir="auto">FCC Chairman Ajit Pai has written to all US telecoms tell them they have until Oct 2019 to end spam/robocalls, or else.    No idea what "or else" means in this case.</p>
<p dir="auto">The FCC says that 50% of all US calls are spam/robocalls.</p>
<p dir="auto">The main problem, the FCC claims, is phone number spoofing to bypass caller ids and block lists.    It also makes it impossible to deal with criminals.</p>
<p dir="auto">It seems that the tech is already out there to solve the problem, but the telecom companies don't want to spend the money on preventing calls that make them money.</p>
