Same here,  new to the site, have dowloaded a few torrents, they are left open.  the only time they seed is during downloading. and even then seeding speed is very low around 3kb/s;  when the file finishes downloading the seeding stops.  ive tried looking at preferences in bit torrent, but not sure what i need to change (if anything)

The first is pretty simple. When you are done downloading your torrent, leave it in your torrent client, leave your torrent client running, and your computer turned on and connected to the internet.

The second way to seed torrents is known as the re-seed process. It is explained in our upload guide here.
