After reading Uwe's last post in the french section, I really would like to test the "Manual Upload" found in GT Menu.
I never uploaded anything manually, as I gladly used the couple QTM/uTorrent since day 1, when I discovered that whole torrent thing on July 31th 2010, but I'm so curious to see how it will go manually !

It will be a "test upload" that I will delete immediately after it starts to seed, just a little file, a couple of silly pics, any description…and the manual re-download of the torrent which is essential at the end of the process.

Guess I'll name it "Test #1 to be deleted : please don't download"

That is only one of our problems. The next problem is that users often do not have a clue how to set their clients, to close them properly, …

Right, in fact I had in mind the client program used during seeding/leeching

What made me think of this question are topics like this one :

The current client program has nothing to do with the program that created the torrent itself, you can seed a torrent with whichever client you like - so that asked question question still makes sense (although staff can see which program is actively seeding/leeching a torrent when the program is actively seeding/leeching [nb]although there is another problem with this information: some (cheating) clients try to make their own tracks invisible and don't announce their ID to our tracker - which is a break of the rules for the BitTorrent protocol, some others allow you to fake either a well known existing ID of another program or let the user set an own ID :([/nb]). QTM uses a (non mandatory) comment field in the torrent file to mark the origin of that torrent - but the content of that comment is not clearly "defined" Nonetheless: what sense does it make when you know which program created the torrent file? Not much if you ask me - there is no additional diagnosis in this information. Just a possibility to gather a statistic about how many of our torrents were created by QTM.

Yes, the manual upload worked finely, as shown in the 7 pictures found in the french support Forum, here :
http://community.gaytor.rent/index.php?topic=13015.msg55419#msg55419

The reason why I tested the manual upload was to help tennisso in the french forum and also because I was very curious to try it, he gave me that occasion, thanks tennisso !

But even if it worked, QTM is much (much) simpler and quicker : I wish all Windows members could try QTM at least once, but maybe many members never heard about QTM ?

Which makes me think of this (please correct me if I'm wrong) :
When a torrent is created and sent to the tracker, GT knows if this torrent has been created with QTM, right ?
(because it seems to me that when I download some GT torrents, I read in my client program, before downloading : "this torrent has been created with QTM 1.3")

My question is : why isn't the client program used by the torrent creator indicated in the torrent ?
It seems strange that this important point isn't mandatory in the protocols. And it would help you a lot in the Forum : just read how many times Mods have to ask users : "ok your fresh upload didn't work, please indicate us what client program are you using ?"
