<![CDATA[What and Why? United States midterm election]]>It has come to my knowledge that there are midterm elections in 2018.
What is the purpose of this election? I dare to ask: is it a presidential election of sorts? (I know that a president is elected every 4 years)
and why is this election so important to the Republican party (Trump keeps saying that it's important that "they win")

While this is true, it has nothing to do with federal election laws, but rather convenience and cost.
