In the UK at least, I've definitely seen a surge in replacing cashiers with automated tills.

Thinking machines may sound neat, but every experiment done so far goes out of control very fast.

They begin thinking and doing things that humans didn't even predict. Like creating their own languages and forms of communications with other machines.
