The overall reason is the gender similarities between men or women.  We see an example in communication style.

Most hetero men wind up looking for some version of their Mom, because they want to be taken care of. The odd part about that is no matter how dysfunctional that woman was - they usually wind up with a very close facsimile. I have a high school friend who married a crazy bipolar bitch just like his Mom. Women have a different yard stick, they are all convinced they can mold men into what they want.

Add 2 or three screaming brats, a quarter measure of in-law turmoil, 1/3 measure of fiscal stress freshly squeezed from "keep up with the Jones's", top it off with a sprinkle of un-fulfilled dreams and broken promises and VOILA! You have the typical "American dream". What cracks me up is that people find this somehow surprising.

By the way lol, THAT was my older adopted sister's description of her first marriage (I added the gay porn thing lol). She is now on number 5, with 4 kids by two husbands, and 2 tummy tucks and a boob job later I am seeing signs that 2 years in number 5 is about out of runway - I expect once he pays for her butt lift he is toast.

Let's not forget all the studies that show that hetero guys say they get more from Bromances than from a girlfriend.

A hetero friend of mine is single because he loves to travel and do extreme stuff.    He's a great looking guy that could get any girl he wanted if he did the "shopping trip to Paris" type travel.    That's not him.

I'm lucky.  I found a man who wants the same thing out of life; a mini farm, with say about 5 to 10 acres.  Not many fags want that.  If we had the money, we'd move in a heartbeat.  Until then, we do the best we can in town.

Do gay relationships even last long enough to establish a healthy relationship in the first place? I find it hard to believe this study considering A LOT of homo's are cheaters and like to ho around with every ab monster they see.

A new study strongly suggests same-sex couples are conspicuously happier than their straight brothers and sisters.

Researchers questioned over 25,000 people in the United Kingdom and more than 9,000 in Australia.

The data they collected led them to conclude gay and lesbian couples are quite content and just really feeling themselves.

On the other hand, bisexual people were on average less happy in their relationships than heterosexual or homosexual couples.

The study was conducted by Janeen Baxter and Francisco Perales at the University of Queensland.

“Relationship quality in same-sex couples was as high as in heterosexual couples in the United Kingdom,” they conclude, “and higher in Australia.”

I'd love to have a look at the actual study.  Where they asking people "Are you happy?" or were they testing for indicators of contentment?

It would be good to see this research replicated in other countries.

That would be nice too.  As raphjd mentioned, they do not have the conflictive gender issues but also relationships are more complex: they don't depend solely on who you are with, but also about factors of your lifestyle and current situation and how each member deals with their own issues and those of their partner.
