The onus is not on Jesus but on us, for Jesus did not come to ask semidivine human beings to do impossible things. He came to ask human beings to live up to their full humanity; he wants us to live in the full implication of our human gifts, and that is far more demanding.”

Reverand Peter J. Gomes came to mind a moment ago after reading another post. You will find no bigger athiest than me but while he was alive I often downloaded his sermons. His message was always uplifting. I was shocked to discover after he died that he was openly gay.

He's very much worth looking for on YouTube when you need that little bit of inspiration to be a better person. His books are also very good.
