Confederate General Robert E. Lee never purchased slaves, he inherited them.
General Lee freed all of his slaves years before the war was over.
Many people in the north held slaves, and they didn't free them until AFTER the war (why wasn't this done when the war began?  Answer:  because the war was not about slavery, it was about the South seceding from the USA - which the constitution says they can do.. but when they did it, the North declared war.  Actually, the South didn't break any laws.)

I'm sure moonbat Queen Maxine Waters will say "Dat racist generable Roberts Ely went and fired all dem black folks (slaves), leevin' dem unemployed an' homelessness!"
