I know people say to not judge a book by its cover, but this novel's cover is seriously the most beautiful I've ever seen. It's the reason why I read it, but the text itself is even more beautiful.

I have them on Audiobook as well and the narrator is the same for both books and he's amazing.

Last year during my out of town work, I bought a book (paper back) on sale. The title of the 1974 novel is The Front Runner by  Patricia Nell Warren. I was touched by the sensitivity of the love story of a running coach and his star athlete. I must have read it a dozen times.

It is also in the book where I learned the difference between a front runner and a kicker  :laugh: :laugh: :laugh:

I was 14 and this was the first book I read where a sex-sex relationship was a normative part of the story.

My favorite gay-themed book is Giovanni's Room by James Baldwin. This was written in the 50's by a gay black man and it still packs a punch today.
