<![CDATA[Am I the only one sick of Muscle-guys overtaking the Bear-"community"/porns?]]>It has gotten to the point finding GENUINELY bearded (no, not so trim they are welcome at country-clubs…), hairy and chunky guys in Bear porn-films is a true rarity - instead it is almost always musclebound hunks that are blatantly NOT into Bears but twinks & hunks. WTF? Are they THAT desperate to keep their own careers going or is it in fact the studios releasing these films trying to make a quick buck by fooling Bears :cry2:?

The earlier days of the Bear community in Toronto was pretty shamanistic - a lot of the guys were coming out of the Radical Faeries and there's a big 'Native American' contingent in the Toronto gay community.  There were Bear Feasts focused on food made of berries and/or honey.  People did drumming and talked about their spiritual connection to Bear totems.  I would say that being a bear needed more than having a hairy and non-sculpted body - there were attitudes toward masculinity and pleasure that were outside diets and gyms.

A 35+ Gym Rat who can't seem to lose that last 10 lbs of body fat is pretty far away from what I'd consider to be the essence of being a Bear.

being a bear is completely dependent on body type.

At best, it's re-branding of the usual porn type with a designed beard.
I've also noticed the decline with bearfilms etc. A while ago I thought hairy and raw was about to change its name to simply "and raw"  😛  but I did enjoy their latest video (chris/sam).
You can't help but wander among different studios and porn sites and cam sites…

When I first discovered bear porn in the late 90s/early 2000s it seemed like most of what I encountered matched my tastes. It was truly refreshing because I did not realize until then that there were guys like me into ordinary men. In fact, I did not consider myself gay up until that point because all of the gay men I saw were the exact opposite of myself or what I found attractive.

A similar thing is happening in the "daddy" genre. So many videos are coming out lately with "daddies" in their late 30s/early 40s — at least that's what they look like.

Asides from that, I don't think the only problem is muscle guys overtaking the bear community, is more the lack of quality of the studios lately. I used to really like Bearfilms, Hairy and Raw, and other studios. But if you look at their newest videos, they only use the same couple actors (even between studios, the actors are the same), or they go for guys that aren't even considered bears, or simply unattractive guys (at least for porn stands, or my stands).

Idk if there aren't many people wanting to do porn nowadays, or whatever other reason, but it's clear the diminishing quality of most studios those days.
