I find that topping is more about the shaft of your penis than the head. So it also helps to change your masturbatory habits if you really want to be an effective top. I only top in my long term relationships, when I actually don't masturbate at all, or very infrequently. I found that the habit of rubbing a quick one off - where speed and efficiency are the focus - reduced my ability to top. Instead, perhaps it would help to focus on the shaft - squeezing and milking and making it last for a long time - rather than the head of the penis.
