I decided to switch it off, but now I am regretting I did that because it won't switch back on.

Have I screwed up my laptop for good? Is there anyway I can save my hard drive in it? It is just a mission to restart everything over again and honestly I don't want too. I've only backed up about 60% of everything on it.

At that point what I would do is remove the battery, dip the whole thing in alcohol, get a large container filled with rice and leave the laptop in there overnight. Might MAYBE revive it, but it looks like you might be too late. Best thing to do when your electronics are wet is always to cut off the power immediately and soak up the liquids. Coffee is pretty awful, though, that stuff is seriously sticky (which is why i'm recommending the rubbing alcohol).
