Internet is always like that… and life itself, I suppose... you are having fun at some forum/site/place/group that you found and of wich you made a habit, just feeling comfortable with the environment, and then suddenly a random jerk/asshole appears and starts talking bullshit, bigotry, stipid things, etc. and makes everything go sour. After that the 2 most likely scenarios are: either you wait till the jerk looses interest in the group and goes away, what can take a while, or the jerk stays and spoils the whole thing indefinitely. A third scenario is unfortunately improbable, that is convincing the jerk that he is a jerk and making him decide to be a better person (hope and humankind are seldom two things that mix).
