i'll always defend equal marriage rights, but have no aspiration to ever marry. why do we need social approval or recognition of queer relationships? in fact, i prize that queer relationships are precisely that –- queer! that is, deviant from the mainstream. so marriage? yuk! not ever for me!

I used to be a family lawyer… divorces are ugly... so much to lose!! So no, I've been turned off marriage...

I still believe that we should be entitled to marry tho'

Depending on the country. In my marriage is not really welcome.

It's good to live somewhere you don't have to hide your love. Any country that doesn't accept it is simply a country that is not well-governed.

Still, marriage isn't always the answer. You can always draw up power of attorney documents with a lawyer. Marriage is just another social institution that can be terribly limiting to those participating. It's attractive due to its "they have it and we don't" factor, but it's really just another crutch. The only reason why gay marriage is so concerning to so many is for its promise of equality and equal rights and privileges that are currently not afforded to same-sex couples in a number of places.

My partner and I have been together for 30 years and our twin sons are 29.
Our boys want their dads to get married!
We haven't told them but in november on their birthday we are tying the knot.
Their wives know about it but are keeping the secret, they know how important it is to the twins.
Oh! The things we do for love..
