When I was a young, I noticed that I would get an erection when I looked or thought about certain things. One of them was older men (40+) in suits or uniforms. At that time, I did not even understand the correlation between an erection and sex. This started before I entered puberty. I was never abused as a kid, and my father was not a businessman or policeman
Once I entered puberty I went from elementary to middle school, where at least half of my teachers were no longer female. They have experience. They know what they want out of life. They are assertive, decisive, responsible. I can feel like I don't need to take responsibility for anything in our 'relationship'. They are also usually quick to pay for stuff as well, even though I don't need them to as I am making a good living as a civil engineer. But the gesture speaks volumes for me.
