Definitely part of it has to do with having the best romantic video game song ever (Faye Wong's- Eyes On Me)- I've always found FFVII's Squall to be super hot! Sephiroth is a good runner up. ;D
Fighting games like Tekken and Street Fighter also have too many hot dudes to choose from so I won't even go there or this list would be overflowing.

Had a crush on my male Shepherd in Mass Effect 1 & 2, and a few of the other male characters too. Never did manage to bang them though
