How to improve your Ratio

I just looked at your account. It shows that you are NOT seeding anything. Don't expect your account to get a better ratio unless you Seeding. You can leave your computer on all day, but if you are not Seeding, your ratio will not improve.

Im using azureus, when the movie has downloaded, it starts to seed. theres 25 and most of those show seeding, but to where? It shows uploaded amounts, in mb a few in gbs uploads speed and says its seeding, it shows number of seeds per file, but NO connected, so Im doing something wrong, please tell me what Im doing wrong so I can correct the problem.

Yes you are now seeding several torrents. BUT YOU ARE LEECHING 7 TORRENTS. The rate of kbs for Leeching/Downloading is about 5 times that of Seeding. As long as you continue to Leeching all those torrents your ratio will keep dropping. You are useing a large amout of your Bandwidth for Leeching! If you want your ratio to go up STOP LEECHING.

I would like to know.. what happens if you have downloaded a film but turns out no one is uploading from you.. does this affect your ratio? I do not want to be classed as someone who just takes a film without sharing but if no one is uploading from you.. what do you do? keep it still open or find something that there is lots of people leaching etc!
I would be greatful for any help

I had to get rid of some files because my computer was too full and then I started getting a "ratio too low" warning and now my rights are disabled.

My Ratio is 0.345 UL: 285.60GB DL: 827.83GB

What's the minimum I need to donate to bring my ratio up to normal so I can download again?

There are three ways to improve your Ratio:

1. Seed torrents with a lot of leechers, or torrents with very few or no other seeders.

2. Upload a new torrent. Make sure you use "Search" to prevent duplicates, and make sure that you are not seeding or leeching anything else until 3 or 4 others have snatched the complete file. (Read the rules!)

3. The easiest way to improve you ratio is to click on the "Donate" on the top blue stripe. Make a contribution to the site to help defray the hundreds of Euros (dollars) a month it costs to keep this site on the internet.

I don't know how to seed, or upload torrents. However, I am willing to donate some money every once in a while to keep my ratio at its minimum. The only trouble I have with that is that I don't know the monetary unit, or the equivalency of Euros. What would the equivalency 5 Euros be in American $5.00?

Due to the weird economic times we are having around the world, it's impossible to say what the currency conversion is going to be as it changes each day.

Just this week we have seen $ gain on the Euro. It used to be $1.5 to 1, as of Tuesday they were nearly even. That's not to say that it won't make another major swing in either direction.

To be on the safe side, always expect it to be double what the amount is; ie $2 to 1. This way you won't break your bank. It won't be that dramatic, but that's how I do it to be safe.

I'm planning to seed some torrents that have a very small number of seeders to improve my ratio. This is because seeding the movies that i've downloaded kinda takes too long because there's a lot of seeders already. Now im just wondering, how can i help seeding the torrent files that i haven't downloaded yet? Is that even possible?

yes…..you can just download the torrent file and start it up in your client.....
if the video is in the default download location then the client will hash check the torrent and it will seed....

if it doesnt automatically hash check then you will have to point your client in the direction of the file
(for example - if your using µtorrent you'll have to stop the torrent from downloading --> right click and select --> advanced settings --> set download location.....find the file and click ok --> again right click--> select "Force Re-check"
in this way your file will be checked to a 100% and start seeding.....)

My message inbox said I have three days to get my ratio up to 0.2. Currently it is a 0.000. And my upload status is at 0 as well. I have a bonus of 0.5…...whatever that means

I left my download open and it says "seeding"....but I see no progress on my uploads. I really dont know what to do and I'm very lost. I read some of the posts on here to try and understand whats goin on but that didnt help either. Can someone please help me in the most SIMPLE was possible? lol

How can I get my upload count up?
and how does this frekkin upload, download, ration business work.

Being "computer illiterate" is nothing bad - I bet there are a lot others among our users - but a lot won't admit that It's only just a bit you should know - please have a look at our "starter's guide" for basic information.

Some things have happened:

At first: your download seems to have worked ok (hope you enjoyed it ). Then (now come the bad news): because you were the only leecher for that torrent (and are now too) you did not have upload traffic for that torrent - so your upload amount is still 0

Because ratio is defined by upload traffic divided by download traffic (in short UL/DL = ratio) you can see 0 / 1.17 GB remains 0 - simple maths. As our system watches (not only your) ratio you were caught with that bad ratio amount and got a system warning for bad ratio - together with a grace period to raise your ratio to your minimum requirement of 0.2 - you can have a look at you details page (profile -> user details) and see which traffic you currently need to get your minimum.

Keep that torrent in seeding state for the time being - the best adviced I can give you! As I jusrt saw - there are currently 2 other leechers who want to download that file - even if there are 22 seeders for that torrent - you have a good chance to get the upload amount of 298 MB you need to reach your minimum ratio. Again: seed, seed, seed. If you are ready seeding: seed some more

As another advantage that will be rather effective for you: you get seed bonus points (surrently 0.5) for the time you seed - 0.5 point for each hour seeding. Those bonus points can later be exchanged into upload traffic which will also increase your ratio (see above).

SO far it looks like its working. I have 10 peers downloading and my ratio is at .440 and rising on utorrents.com. On this website tho I'm at .267. It should update right? The 1.17 GB file was the only file i downloaded from this site.
Should I continue and let it seed? Or should I stop it now,since I've made the minimum?
Are there any dangers associated with seeding?
It seems almost too easy now, and I'm scared ppl are hacking my computer or something…..lol

Just a word of caution for your ratio will raise the more you download (have a look for Rationator 2). So I advise to build a ratio buffer so the change won't come as a surprise for you. If you keep an eye on your ratio you get used to building some supply before the next ratio hits you.

But as long you keep your uploads speed I don't expect any ratio problems for your account in the future

I dont read forum topics. So now I have ratio 0.120 and if I try to dwnload torrent
I receive message:
Your Download rights are disabled (Ratio problems? Fix your Ratio to get your Download rights re-enabled).
If I have right to download I can correct ratio by downloading several medium sized vids, but how I can change
my ratio now?

the fact that you have a ratio problem shows that you must have already downloaded something….therefore what you can do now is

keep seeding the video that you downloaded
upload your own video (but make sure that it isnt already on the site by running a search)
donate to the site

I am fairly new to gaytorrents and believe it is a great site. I have however had some ratio problems that I would very much like to rectify.

I began using gaytorrents at the recommendation of a friend. I began by downloading a large number of torrents that were not available on other trackers so I was very happy to be afforded to opportunity to download them on gaytorrent. Unfortunately, those torrents were very sparse on leechers and I was not able to keep my ratio up. Not being new to private trackers, I figured I would have time to improve my ratio later by downloading heavily leeched torrents and allowing them to run for as long as it took to maintain a respectable ratio. I (again unfortunately) downloaded too many torrents without the ability to properly seed these mainly unpopular torrents and my overall ratio dropped to a level where I can no longer download torrents.

Yesterday, determined to return my ratio to a respectable level, I attempted to upload a couple of highly desirable torrents that I knew would have great appeal and I hoped in that way to improve my ratio. I proceeded to upload those torrents, however when I got to the step of having to download my own torrent before I could begin seeding, I was greeted with the message that my download privileges had been terminated due to my poor ratio. So even though I am diligently attempting to raise my ratio by uploading and seeing popular torrents, I am unable to do so because I cannot download my own torrent to begin the seeding of them. Couldn't there be an exception to the download rule when one is attempting to seed a new torrent?

I would hate to be barred from downloading torrents altogether from gaytorrents.ru but aside from purchasing my way to a respectable torrent, what other options do I have?

We do not Ban users from this site for having a low ratio, we just restrict your download rights. You can always upload or seed torrents that you have.
