      @jbo1:

I see tons of ads saying 'no Asians' or 'whites only' and Canadians can be very racist sometimes.

this basically is racism and bigoted , regardless of how they try to justify it , you can express this in a way thats actually a preference without resorting to NO GAMS etc , one can say that they have a preference for lighter skinned men or height weight appropriate
its funny when they do get pulled up on this matter than men like that get super aggressively defensive , mainly cause they know they've been caught out, im sorry that your friends have had to deal with this kind of bullshit behaviour , as a minority community sometimes people need to learn to check their privilege at the door , regardless of skin tone , a minority is a minority.

I have a preference for white men, I don't find a lot of people in other ethnicities attractive.

I would like to say it doesn't matter but in my area it does, I see tons of ads saying 'no Asians' or 'whites only' and Canadians can be very racist sometimes.

I have some Japanese and East Indian friends that always complain they get rejected solely based on their race.

Not to be confrontational, but just because it matters in your area, doesn't mean it have to matter to you.

But it does - not necessarily because of ethnicity but appearance associated with it.

Sorry, that was badly worded, English is not my first language.

It matters only in as much as what characteristics of people someone is attracted to does.  If I am not attracted to most men over 6' tall because I am 5'8" and generally prefer guys my size, is that 'sizist'?  I have blond hair, blue eyes, but am generally more drawn to men with dark hair and eyes - is that bigoted?  It does give non-caucasians a headstart, but a LOT of other things come in to play too.  😉

That is not to say that I would never be attracted to someone else, but we ALL have things that we find more or less attractive.  Some may be given at birth - like race or gender, while others may be lifestyle - like tattoos or weight.

So I guess I can agree that it is racist or discriminating to not work with or be friends with someone because of their race or physical characteristics since that is something that is, but the nature of society, broad-based and inclusive.  But who you are sexually attracted to, we all are to different degrees 'discriminating' because, by it's nature, sexual partners are to be highly selective.

Well if you're talking about friendships etc, no race does not matter to me ^_^

However when it comes to sexual preferences, I do tend to have types that I go for. I've actually found every race attractive at some point but there tends to be certain races that cater to my personal preferences more. So I guess race matters a little?

People always tend to say it's not about racism… it is about prefference. Well... what if a prefference is influenced by subconscious racism? Society is racist, and that racism can influence our prefferences and most times we don't even notice it. That doesn't mean it is not a bad thing... it's just a kind of racism that we live more comfortably with and that doesn't bother our conscience that much. But once we are aware of that, we can fight against it within our own minds and train ourselves to let go of some biased 'prefferences'.

Not in friendships, but in sexual preferences, everyone has a type.

I've heard your argument been used before - at my family's church. The "gay rights" movement is a kind of homosexism that we live more comfortably with and doesn't bother our conscience that much. Once we are aware that we are attracted to men, which is sinful and wrong, we can fight it within our own minds and train ourselves to let go of that biased "preference".

Is the (any race) man who finds himself attracted to the (other race) guy and it not be reciprocated, any different than a woman attracted to the same guy?  One he is not attracted to because of race, the other because of gender. Why is it acceptable in the gay community to reject her and not him?

Does it matter what is behind our sexual preferences?  We were ingrained with things that we find sexually attractive and it is highly selective. Does that mean that we are not going to have sex with some absolutely amazing women or brilliant and witty men of other races?  Sure - but when considering sexual attraction, then we are always going to want what we want, and that is perfectly fine.

And remember, i am one who DOES find specific Asian, Latino, Black, and White men attractive if they meet whatever set of characteristics my mind factors in when I first see a guy and either think "Pass", "Say Hello", or "Damn!".  But I see no reason to think that whatever specific combination of features I happen to find attractive is either right, nor wrong, it just is.

:cheesy2: I believe that race DOES matter. In fact only one race matters; so much so that ALL others are trivial. If you have a problem with the HUMAN race then you've really missed the point I'm trying to make. ALL humans are different. Even twins are different from one another. It is what makes us unique. Either it's that or I'm just a giant SLUT that will sleep with ANYONE regardless of their differences.

Guys, this is so cool we can discuss this honestly and respectfully. Most of my life I thought gay men felt about race the same way I did. I'm fascinated seeing the differences and similarities from guys all round the world.

Not at all. I'm latino and I'm engaged to a black guy. Race has never been and will never be an issue between us.

I don't care about it either.  I never had sex with a black or Asian guy tough, but I really want it. I just fear I am hypersexualizing them.
