(I expanded it first.)

I agree that one should always download the maximum possible size. In the fullness of time screen sizes change. I just moved up to a 24" lcd with a resolution of 1200x1920. At some future time I look forward to my 30" running 2560x1600. Then perhaps our lame 96 dpi resolution will double and we will have true HIDEF on our screens with magazine and photo sharpness. :cheesy2:

However did you notice that the original source aspect ratio was 16:9 (1366x768) and the picture appears horizontally squeezed because you put it into a 4:3 aspect ratio (1024x768, respectively 800x600)?

Both horizontal & vertical resolution should be resized by the same factor to respect the geometry of the shown objects, e.g. 1024x576 or 800x450 or 720x480

Uwe, you are right of course. LBC - can you please forgive me I didn't try it with your original sized picture but with those values I found in that posting? Sorry, if I had had a correct size I'd have seen the real aspect ratio and set them both to the correct ratio - my bad . My (dumb) excuse: On my Monitor the horizontal scrollbar wasn't gone - I'm used to that since nowadays screen resolutions of > 1024x768 px seem to be normal )which I can't use because of my eyesight

As to the pic size for display: A pic up to the bitbucket maximal size won't be changed during upload, it is saved in the original size. The code snippet shown and used here do only change the displayed size, not the picture size itself. If such a picture is displayed in a posting, it will automatically have the "upslide" function to show that pic in a resolution fitting to your screen resolution (one click on the picture) or to the original size (click on the arrows in the bottom right corner of the upscaled pic).

Saving the pic in original size: You can save the pic on your computer with a right click on either variant (displayed, upscaled or original) with a right click -> save picture as … in its original dimensions.

frankly I don't know if it even works

Upscaling or even downscaling are reducing the picture display quality vs a 1:1 pixel display there is always a loss of sharpness unless it are factors like 2, 3, 4, …

I have a lot to learn still I know but it seems a wallpaper should be full size to work properly if you decide to install it on your computer???
Can you re-size up to use the pic after DL?Huh?

No, but you can size it up to full size before download by clicking on the resized picture and than save it by a right mouse click on it "save as…". The result is the same.

wouldn't a wallpaper the bigger pixel the better?

Best is to have the same number of pixel than your screen
