Utopia - Best Series Ever
-
Glenn Close is Mister Rabbit in my mind so actually no she is not being considered but if I was Glenn Close's people I would get off the phone with Phil Collin's people and be begging for the role that would finally make her a star

That said I have started rumours before that turned out true, my latest is that HBO is developing Brokeback Mountain as a series, when I casually mentioned my little rumour recently at a party a total random started disclosing details about the series like Jake 'greedy bottom' Gyllenhaal is executive producing. I didn't have the heart to say it was a rumour I started because sometimes what we wish for does indeed come from over the rainbow.
-
Haven't watched Brokeback Mountain, actually, so I've no idea if it'd be a good thing or not for HBO to adapt it.
Some Utopia-related news: Cristobal Tapia de Veer (bless this man) will be doing the soundtrack for Channel 4's/AMC's Humans. Very, very nice.

Episode 1 of Humans was loved here and without knowing that little tidbit. Â I was watching and going "Hey that's so and so" & "That's so and so" and did I see RB? Â I remember thinking whose the guy that reminds me of William Hurt and then being shocked when it was William Hurt but didn't look up whether it was RB or not.
To be clear: Brokeback Mountain on HBO is totally trademarked by me. Whatever anyone tells you it's a rumour I started. Whether or not the eventual series is worth it, the film is worth watching as pastoral softcore porn for your inner homosexual. How gay cowboys can be elevated beyond anything but softcore porn is beyond me. This coming from a man who once was in that same telephone booth as Ennis.

Looked it up and it is RB!!!
-
Yuuuuuup, it is him. I Googled mid-episode when I saw him to confirm the suspicion.
Anywho, I see you've started a proper thread for the show, so I'll haunt that place from now on.
-
I definitely heard Cristobal watching Episode 2 of Humans and did a little google on him. Was mildly pleased/surprised to learn he is based out of Montreal. I won't begrudge him this little nugget of Canadian radio over airplay from a decade ago https://youtu.be/JFHQL6LGjMk

Bad news for HBO's take on Utopia: HBO and David Fincher couldn't come up with an agreement regarding the budget, so the project is dead for now. HBO owns the rights to adapt the series so Fincher can't shop it around.

The Network is real.

I heard the first series (i.e. season) is on U.S. Netflix as of this month. I watched the whole thing a couple of months ago after reading this thread and liked it a lot - both the story and the character developments were quite interesting. According to the solarmovie date listing (hxxps://www.solarmovie.is/tv/utopia-2013/), the second series ran in July and August 2014. Does anyone know if there'll be a third?
If you liked Utopia, you might like the US series "The Americans" with Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys playing KGB agents deep undercover as average Americans in the 1980s USA. I watched it just before Utopia. The characterizations are great and, while I'm not much into spy stories, the story arcs and individual episodes are quite riveting - sometimes I'm on the edge of my seat several times an episode. And I have totally gay dirt on Keri Russell's hair omg omg…but that's neither here nor there.

Unfortunately, there won't be a third series since Channel 4 decided not to renew it.

I don't know what happened to my previous comment but I know I made it because I see the pictures I posted from Deutschland 83 which I was recommending to check out if you like "The Americans" but also more importantly…
The actors, Neil Maskell & Alexandra Roach (RB & Becky), have mentioned in recently that they are willing to do more. Actually, Neil Maskell said it was a crime that it wasn't allowed the chance to finish and Alexandra was quoted saying (& this was after HBO cancelled) she would love to do more of it. The network works in mysterious ways...Community got six seasons (and I'll bet the movie), The X-Files, Twin Peaks, Arrested Development. let's just wait and see...
