Another side effect is that such a torrent occupies one of the limited concurrent downloading slots allowed by the downloading rules and controlled by the tracker. If you've many of them, it might block you from real downloads.

In that case you could temporary stop them.

To be clear:all the amount of data you upload on such "downloading" torrents will be announced by your torrent client to the tracker as upload and counted positive to your upload and ratio.

If you download just a selection then you will never show as seeding…basically because you will never complete.

And no, it is not a problem. You will get all your credit for whatever you share

The only drawback is that you couldn't do a reseed because your torrent client would show it as incomplete and want to download the rest. But that needn't bother you
