For me it makes the story as a whole more interesting & hopefully better. Let's face it American Horror Story is basically in the same category as say Dynasty. Wanna bet they have tried to get Linda Evans for a part?
After series 2 (& sometimes after every episode) I ask myself "Why are you watching this?" but I guess at heart I am a maschoist who likes shiny things.

If you are reffering to Dynasty, i am watching it because it makes me laugh. Especially when Krystle and Alexis are in the same room.

Yes I think that is the same reason I watch AHS.

Freak Show hasn't captured my attention. I really loved Miss Lange's take on Life on Mars in the first episode and I watched the second as well as the third episode but now the rest has just been "I'll get to it eventually". Not so bad because then I can binge it…

Freak Show is giving me the same feeling as Coven, which is that it's interesting on paper, but it's just not working for me. I'm still watching it all the way to the end though.

The loose ends are dissatisfying to me… in fact, let's break it down, it's always Jessica Lange in a costume showing how bitchy her character can be.
Kathy Bates and Angela Basset are acting their asses off, Jamie Brewer and Frances Conroy are awesome and of the rest of the cast I have to say they are trying to make something of their roles, even if they are bad written sometimes.
Emma Roberts is a pleasant surprise for me, as is Naomi Grossman as Pepper, but hell this storytelling is so bad sometimes... as Murphy is trying to put in too much.
Also, a lot of promises aren't held up... where is the companionship of women in Coven as it was advertised, all I saw mostly were bitches in cat fights about shit.

It definitely wasn't as good as some of the other series. It had SO much potential and some of the episodes were quite good. It felt like the writers were throwing everything out there and hoping at least some it stuck and it was frustrating when certain things were not mentioned again..

Loved seasons 2 and 3. Season 4 - Freak Show is poor. I loved the scenes with Madame Delphine LaLaurie. Such a psycho bitch.

I'd still download it. There are some really good parts of the show - just focus on them when you watch it.

So many sexy shots of him shirtless or naked. Yum!!! I enjoyed season 1 and I'm still in season 2. Liking it so far. I might avoid coven and freakshow from the reviews I've heard about them though….

If you make it through the mess that is Asylum than I think you might find Coven a little more cohesive at the very least.

Also, although I do love me some Jessica Lange, especially that scene she steals in Murder House from off camera, I mean come on, she steals the scene from the actors in it while only appearing in voice, kudos. (Full disclaimer: I love that Blue Sky movie she deserved the oscar for). And her musical number in Asylum was the highlight of the season for me. What you will miss not watching Coven, which I imagine you must be getting from Asylum is the full on supernova trajectory of Lily Rabe. Seeing her Asylum & then Coven performance is I know think of the Horror Stories as her vehicle & not Lange's.
